Print Design-Student Work
In GID 305: Brand Identity & Visual System, conducted during the Fall 2020 semester, I developed a print design project “Smak” that involves foreign language/typography in branding design. This endeavor challenged students to craft a unique brand identity for a contemporary sandwich shop situated in the bustling heart of New York City, while thoughtfully preserving its distinct Nordic roots. The resulting logo designs seamlessly blended modern urban flair with timeless Scandinavian influences, creating an appealing aesthetic tailored to the fast-paced lifestyles of today’s metropolitan consumers.
The work presented below, produced by student Nick Loock, received acknowledgment at the American Advertising Federation (AAF-ND) design competition. Achieving a Silver Award, this logo design and accompanying promotional material demonstrated a high level of proficiency and effectiveness in skillfully combining visual and functional aspects.
Presented below is “Munchy Time,” a packaging project I developed, featured in GID 305: Brand Identity & Visual System. As part of this intermediate print design course for sophomores and juniors, students focused on logo branding and package layout, acquiring valuable knowledge in design principles, grid systems, and visual consistency.
This student work below was juried and received Silver Award in the category of packaging design in AAF-ND.

Featured below is a poster design project from GID 305, in which students concentrated on utilizing a consistent grid system across two separate posters. This exercise allowed students to delve into the potential of grids for organizing information effectively while maintaining visual harmony. Gaining an appreciation for the importance of visual consistency in graphic design is a key learning outcome of this course, and this project served as a valuable opportunity to develop that understanding.
